Keep it an evening under glass

Why the orangery still says 18+

Social casino games borrow the look, the sound and the pacing of real gambling. Nightpane Orangery is meant only for adults over the legal gambling age and is not aimed at anyone under 18. Age is asked twice: once on the banner that meets you at the door, and again as a tick when you open your account.

Panes we will never crack

• Offer real-money gambling, or push it at you.
• Put up prizes that have real-world value.
• Sell coins, or slip in in-app purchases.
• Point you at gambling operators or affiliates.
• Use countdowns or streaks to nag you back.

A warning from Tamsin Pye

A free game can be set to feel generous, and it refills your balance for nothing. Real-money games do neither of those things. Doing well under these panes tells you nothing about how you would fare with money at stake.

Signs a night-keeper watches for

• Spinning far longer than you meant to.
• Going short-tempered once you stop.
• Reaching for a spin to dodge a mood.
• It is eating into sleep, work or people.
• You catch yourself hunting for a real-money version.

A hand on the vent crank

• Settle on how long you will stay before the first spin.
• Leave autoplay switched off.
• Step out onto the gravel path now and then.
• Clearing this site's data resets the lot, and your device settings can block the site outright if you want to be done with it.
